A study conducted within the scope of the #Adote Project, which is affiliated with the Center for Research in Biology of Bacteria and Bacteriophages (CEPID B3), received an Honorable Mention at the 5th Brazilian Congress on Teaching, Research, and Extension (ENSIPEX), held from January 26 to 29, 2026. The award was granted by the Brazilian Society for Scientific Events (SOBREC) and highlights the project’s impact on pedagogical innovation and the strategic use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to support learning.
The award-winning study, entitled “Conecta#Adote: Connecting the ‘Adopt a Bacterium’ Active Learning Methodology to the Digital Era Through Artificial Intelligence Tools for Learning Analysis,” presented the development and validation of the Conecta#Adote platform. The platform integrates AI resources with the broader strategies of the #Adote Project in order to centralize, organize, and analyze science communication content produced by students participating in the project and published on social media.
The posts were imported into the platform, which carried out automated content analyses, including term frequency counts, identification of biological vocabulary, and the generation of word clouds, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposal in monitoring learning and knowledge sharing in digital environments.
The study was authored by Daffiny de Oliveira Suman, Felipe de Oliveira Papaléo, and Bruna Rodrigues Corrêa, under the supervision of Ana Carolina Ramos Moreno, a researcher at the Butantan Institute, and co-supervised by Rita Café Ferreira, a faculty member at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo (ICB-USP) and a researcher at CEPID B3. The project was also represented at the congress with the study “Analysis of the #Adote Project from the Perspective of Research, Teaching, and Extension,” authored by Bruna Rodrigues Corrêa, Carolina Diorio Nastaro, Gustavo de Oliveira Fenner, Jansen de Araújo, and Rita Café Ferreira. Both works were presented orally in an online format.
ENSIPEX is a plural and interdisciplinary forum for scientific exchange that brings together researchers, faculty members, students, and professionals from diverse fields of knowledge. By recognizing the #Adote Project in its fifth edition, the congress acknowledged the program’s commitment—and, more broadly, that of CEPID B3—to integrating teaching, research, and extension, fostering dialogue between society and academic practice.
